The tides are slowly turning, with summer being the harbinger of positive news on the pandemic front here in Boston.
After a long wait, our Church doors opened to receive the first group of parishioners on July 3rd. This coincided with the grand finale of the St. Thomas Perunnal festivities. Yes, it was all Virtual, but this Feast left a lasting impression on all of us. Incase you missed the action, we have it covered in this edition.
We are breaking new ground here at SMCB Times as well! A new column dedicated solely to the Youth Voice has been added. We extend a hearty welcome to Reshma Abraham who joins the team as the 3rd youth delegate.
Adding to the mix is a guest columnist, who provides her insights and interpretation about Faith, its interconnected realms and impact on children.
If you are in the quest for your green thumb, look no further. See the feature on the bountiful balcony garden.
As we march into August to commemorate the Assumption of Mother Mary, we have a special feature with the members of our community sharing stories from their walk with the Blessed Mother. This is a must-watch!
Happy Reading and Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Many of us look up to Mother Mary as our Divine Mother to guide and nurture our souls towards the joy and love perfected by Christ. This is a 2-part video series in which we bring to you glimpses of the journey with Mother Mary, as witnessed by Reena Issac and family of Roger & Jilu Chengat.
Roger and Jilu Chengat have been married for 6 years and reside in Massachusetts. They have 2 children - Magdalena (5) and John (3) and one angel in heaven. Roger’s parents, George and Rose also live with them. Mother Mary has been a beautiful part of their life and journey and they share with us some of their experiences as a family.
In this short video, Reena narrates one of her very first experiences with Mother Mary as a child and how the magnitude of it helped her to grow in faith in the Mother!
Reena is an IT project manager by profession, dancer, cook and movie maker by passion, a voracious reader by choice and a Jill of few trades (if not all) by destiny. She loves spending quality time with her friends and family and believes in the mantra of finding pleasure in the simplest things in life . Reena lives in Boston with her husband Beji and two boys Alexander and Alfred.

It's fun to catch-up with friends. But imagine the surprise when the SMCB Times core team member Alexander, ran into a familiar face in college. It was time to strike a conversation with Dennis Kalloor, who is currently completing his EMT Training in Portland, ME. They discuss the new challenges posed by training and practicing in the healthcare field in the midst of a pandemic. Check out their conversation below to learn something new!
Dennis Kalloor is a sophomore at Northeastern University studying Cell and Molecular Biology. He is also an EMT in training, aspiring Doctor, and co-founder of the Insulin Awareness Project. He lives in Falmouth, ME with his parents and younger brother. He was a member of our church from 2010-2011
During this time when most churches are keeping feast day celebrations at a minimum, SMCB had a week-long celebration from June 26th to July 3rd.
