Hoping that this edition of SMCB Times finds you all healthy and happy. These are challenging times for many and for others a time to be thankful about being with our loved ones. Let us be vigilant in following the guidelines from our State officials and thus cooperate with the efforts in fighting the pandemic.
The SMCB Times isn’t just a parish newsletter, but it’s a great digital platform to bring our talents together as a Parish. It speaks our mind, showcases our creativity and brings our community together. In the past month, it was very heartening to see how each of you joined your family unit members and created some nice content for the St. Thomas Feast. Though initially apprehensive of the participation for the weeklong virtual celebration, videos like the Puppet show on the life of St. Thomas, programs from each of the prayer units, and the youth, proved otherwise. It was fun watching and participating in the making of “The Unusual Suspects” and I am proud that attempts like this lifted the spirits of you all for a moment.
The vertical lift project has been a long-standing dream of our community for many years, we had yearned for its fruition. This month saw its successful completion and its dedication to the community. I would like to congratulate you all on the successful completion of this project. We also have started working on renovating our basement bathrooms while adding a new “Accessible” bathroom as well. We are hopeful that over the next couple of months, we will have a completely renovated bathrooms in our basement.
After postponing the Communion and Confirmation for 7 of our kids in May, we have finally decided to organize their great day on August 16th. The event, just like all the events during this time, will be telecast live on our YouTube and Facebook channels. Though these kids will miss the presence of the community, they surely will be looking forward to your prayers and blessings.
Let us very specially remember our India as the nation is celebrating its independence and Blessed Mother’s Assumption on August 15. It is a difficult time as the number of COVID 19 cases are increasing each day. Let us continue our prayers through Blessed Mother’s intercession. As Fr. Pinto Paul in his beautiful article “The Power and Promise of prayer” extolls us to pray, I continue my prayers for all of you and for the whole world.
May God bless you all
