Dear Parishioners,
As we dedicate this year to St. Joseph, the month of March is very important to receive his blessings and grace as we are celebrating his feast on March 19th.
I am happy to say that our community is preparing for the feast in a very special way. I would like to share with you some important thoughts about St. Joseph for having our mediation.
St. Joseph is the patron of the universal church in Roman Catholicism, and his life is recorded in the Gospels, particularly Matthew and Luke.
Year 2021 is proclaimed as the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from 8 December 2020, to 8 December 2021.
St. Joseph is such an important figure in the story of Christ. He was the Defender and Foster Father of Christ giving the Lord the lineage of David to fulfill the prophecy. He was the Most Chaste Spouse of the Mother of God, protecting her virginity and saving her from the consequences of being an unwed mother during a time when that meant death by stoning. St. Joseph was chosen because he was a faithful Jew.
St. Joseph is the perfect example of obedience even when circumstances were telling a different story (Matthew 1:20-24).
We need to reflect on where we are in our life with obedience to the will of God.
St Joseph was always serving instead of looking to be served. This is one of the challenging Christian values to follow during present time.
We will ask St. Joseph to help us to be selfless.
Example as a father and husband. He was faithful in his responsibilities to his family. As parents, you need to ask his help to be faithful in your call of God.
He was always available to protect and provide for his family.
St. Joseph was a simple carpenter who served his neighbors through his handiwork. He taught his foster son Jesus the value of hard work.
It is God’s will that we work hard to provide for our families, church and community as Christians.
Above all his Humility was perfect that God chose him as Father for His Only Son in this world.
