Mar Jacob Angadiath, Bishop of St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago, was born on October 26, 1945 at Periappuram in Elanji Panchayat of Ernakulam District, in the State of Kerala, India.
It was on March 13, 2001, the first Syro-Malabar Diocese outside India, namely, St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago was established and he was appointed the first Bishop of this newly formed diocese, by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II.

Christmas 2020
Glory to God in the highest! Amen.
Christmas 2020 will be very special for all of us. It is the birth of the Lord. Let us welcome the Lord into our hearts and homes and communities and then try our level best to keep company with Jesus during this time of Covid-19. At the very first Christmas Jesus invited the Shepherds and the Magi to have a personal encounter with Him. The shepherds having seen 'Mary and Joseph and the infant lying in the manger'," they made known the message that had been told them about this child”. (Lk 2:17) They became the first proclaimers of the mystery of the Incarnation. The Magi, having worshipped the Lord, "they departed for their country by another way”. (Mt 2:12) See the changes in the life of the shepherds and Magi as they were privileged to see Baby Jesus; they became heralds of Good News.
This Christmas is very special, since it is in the midst of Covid-19. The whole world is under the threat of this pandemic and the whole lifestyle is changed everywhere. As he was born in a manger on Christmas day, let us prepare our hearts, homes and churches where we can shelter Him during this pandemic. Thus, let us find joy in the company of the Lord at this time when we are asked to wear masks and keep social distance in our daily living conditions.
During this Christmas and New Year, let us pray for Faith, Hope and Charity; "but the greatest of these is charity (love)". (1Cor 13:13)
