Replaced the non-working exterior lights with high efficiency, cost effective LED lights -- this has vastly improved the safety and security of the church patrons, while keeping the cost down.
Fixed this issue with flooding issues in the rectory basement.
Re-sealed the parking lot area.
Sealed (and where necessary, replaced) church exterior wall bricks were repaired and sealed to prevent further damages and to restore the beauty of the church.
Modernized the basement stage with new intelligent lighting, projector, and sound system; added a two-way switch control in the basement light to get a better stage program management.
Replaced the old water heater with a new, energy efficient water heater.
Fixed a leak in the water main line leak on an emergency basis; hence avoiding potential heavy damage to the property.
Installed new racks in the kitchen and the storage area to better organize the kitchen and maintain the facility.
Installed a new water dispenser to meet the increased need of the fresh water at the basement.
Hosted the Ecumenical Thanksgiving in 2018, with about 300 people attending from various New England Malayali churches -- it is till date the biggest Ecumenical gathering in the New England Area.
Replaced church interior lights for better visibility and uniformity.
Conducted the interim General Body meeting to provide administrative, financial updates to the parish members, to obtain consensus on general maintenance activities and gather feedback.
Installed/fixed the classroom separators and doors to prevent further deterioration of the classrooms.
Formed a new family unit, St. Ann, with a membership of 8 new families.
Cleaned the basement and refurbished floor tiles which were deteriorating due to excess humidity.
Installed an Honor Plaque with the list of initial church building donors and additional plaque for the patrons of the vertical lift was approved by the general body.
Formed a committee to prepare the draft plan and cost estimate for building the community center.
Kick-started the Handicap access project - various fundraising efforts were also initiated.
Initiated and ran the fundraising for 2018 Kerala flood relief -- a total of $9454.18 were collected and dispersed.
Established new process and procedure to request church facility to better understand the use of the facility and establish accountability.
Established new accounting practice to establish a separate Capital account to better represent our long-term capital project vs maintenance tasks.
Prepared a welcome kit for new parish members, which include a handbook with church history and all details about our community.
One challenge was that we were not able to complete the installation of the Handicap Accessible Vertical lift. Though we did manage to get one proposal, we wanted to get at least two proposals before awarding the contract. We are happy to note that the vertical lift project was successfully completed in 2020 after getting the approval from the general body to award the contract to the lone general contractor bid for the work.
To summarize, our tenure as 2017-2018 trustees was very fulfilling and enjoyable. We feel blessed to have had an energetic priest and a very dedicated and hardworking team of parish council members. Even though our term started with the news of Rev. Fr. Raphael Ambadan leaving for Florida, we had the opportunity to welcome a new and equally compassionate parish priest Rev. Fr. Antony Pullukattu. Our parish community has been growing from strength to strength and we feel blessed to be part of such a wonderful community.
