Neha Joseph is a Junior at Franklin High School. She loves to sing and is part of the church choir. Neha aspires to pursue a career in the field of medicine, with the hope of becoming an allergy specialist in the future. The Malayalee community means a lot to her. Neha wants to open a dialogue about some of the issues that are seen within our communities. She is hoping to create a safe space for the younger children to be able to talk freely about problems/issues they face. Neha hopes to lend a guiding hand to them.
I want to start a series where I can openly talk about some of my experiences with micro aggression and an overall sense of feeling lost during elementary and middle school. My hope is young readers can hopefully relate to this and we can start a conversation. I also want to make sure the younger kids have someone that they can reach out to if they are feeling lost. I know if I had an upperclassman/ one of the older kids talk to me that they understood what I went through that would have meant a lot to me. Another one of my goals is that our community comes even closer and becomes even more of a safe place.
