Layers of delicious Chocolate Brownie/Cake, Cherry Pie filling, and fresh whipped cream come together in this decadent layered dessert.
· 1 square (9×9-inch) pan brownies/ chocolate cake, store-bought or from your favorite mix or recipe.
· 4 Regular drinking glass/ glass bowl/ Dessert cups (at least 4 inches deep)
· 1 can of cherry pie filling (store-bought) or you can use your own filling made from pitted cherries.
· 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar (you can add up to 4 if you are using store-bought cherry filling as it is slightly sour.
· 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
· 2 tbsp Rum/liquor for flavor (optional)
· Chocolate shavings/ grated chocolate, for garnishing (optional).
· Canned cherries (for garnishing on the top)
1. Cut brownies/ cake into 1-inch cubes or gently crumble with clean hands; set aside. You can add rum/liquor to this mixture if you like the flavor. Tip: If you do not want to use alcohol, you can use the juice from the canned cherries.
2. Whip heavy cream and 2 tablespoons sugar with an electric mixer/ eggbeater until soft peaks form. Start with the lowest speed then gradually move to the highest. It will take 10-15 minutes to get the consistency depending upon your mixer. Tip: Chill your cream, the bowl, and beater attachment (the removable metal part you insert into your beater) in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before you start whipping the cream.
3. Arrange half of the brownie/cake mixture in 4 individual glass bowls, followed by cream, half of the cherry filling, then half of the whipped cream. Repeat once more, ending with whipped cream. Tip: You can always add a big cherry pie layer in the middle (3rd layer) and top with a chocolate cake layer ending with a whipped cream layer, if you do not have a tall cup.
4. Garnish with chocolate shavings, if desired and with a cherry on the top. Enjoy!
