It's never too early to start thinking about college! All of us know that academics isn't sufficient to get into the best colleges. Colleges look for extra curricular activities as well - activities that show passion, community service and willingness to go above and beyond.
The SMCB High School reporter program is a great way for high schoolers to gain extra curricular experience, while serving the community. This is experience that could help them get into college and beyond!
The correspondent program runs September to August.
During this period, the correspondent should have submitted and published a minimum of 5 submissions. The submissions should consist of :
One Faith based article
One article that is of general interest to the S.M.C.B community
Three submissions of personal choice
After meeting with the program requirements, the junior reporter will be rewarded with:
A certificate indicating that the student was a correspondent for SMCB Times.
A letter of recommendation.
References for college, scholarship applications or work.
Experience with digital platforms, communication, community service and journalism.
