Read about the recently concluded Ettu Nombu, plans for the Rosary Devotion month in October, ideas for re-starting the seniors club and finally a call for help after the Marian Mothers' tryst with "The Mint" at the mint patch !!..
The month of October is dedicated to the most Holy Rosary.
We will be having the phone rosary from 1st October to 20th October. Time for Phone rosary – 7:30 pm EST
Saturday & Sunday rosary will be in the church after Holy Mass. Families who would like to lead should sign up with Marian Mothers. We have 14 days open for anyone to lead.
From 21st to 30th Oct, Rosary devotion will be in church led by assigned family units.
Oct 31st - No Mass and rosary
Dial-in information: Please see the church email or SMCBoston whatsapp group.
Ettu Nombu Mass and Rosary were conducted daily from Sept 1st through Sept 8th at 7 pm in the evenings. On the last day, we had a procession with the statue of Mother Mary around the Church as we recited the Holy Rosary. Achan announced the rosary count recited by the members of our community. At the end of Holy Mass, everyone relished Nercha (sweet dish) brought in by different members.
On Sept 2nd, we took a second trip to the flower cutting garden in Hudson for altar flowers for Ettu Nombu. Our enthusiastic group of helpers had a nice time cutting flowers and arranging them for our dear Mother.
We plan to start the Seniors club soon, probably after January, so that all of us can settle down after November and December events.
Few thoughts on Seniors Club.
While we were looking for Charity ideas, we came across Little Sisters of the Poor in RI, who open their doors to volunteers for their Seniors. It involves spending time with seniors, reading books to them, playing games and doing small tasks like folding clothes.
“Charity Always Begins at Home”
What better way is there for anyone who would like to come and give company to our seniors in our Seniors Club than spend time with them in our very own SMCB basement once a month. We conducted these meetings for a few months during Springtime, and we plan to continue with this event every year from January to May. This way you can either bring in your favorite dish to share with our Seniors or just spend time talking and playing games with them. We can contribute right here in our very own Church.
All Praise and Glory to Christ Our King!!
Our flower patch in front of the rectory has been invaded by mint from the past few years. Marian Mothers had tried to weed them out by putting in weed barrier fabric and planting 2 hydrangea plants (Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea).
Yet, the Mint came back !!!
Our gardening team also weeded, mulched and planted roses all around (David Austin roses).
But the Mint is back again !!
Now as Mothers, the best we can do is each time you come to church, pull some mint entirely with their roots and take them home for cooking or replanting. (Beware they are highly invasive and potting method is best). We are hoping that by doing this, we get rid of all the mint and save our roses and hydrangeas from being choked.
Remember, pull them all out along with their roots. We assure you it is very satisfying.
PLEASE SAVE OUR FLOWER PATCH!
Cheers! Mothers know best!
