Even though we were in lockdown and had reduced capacity for the better part of last year, the Facilities team lead by Antony Valantra has been working hard behind the scenes towards many much needed updates in the Church. This is in addition to all the day-to-day maintenance projects which run year long.
The successful completion of the vertical lift project got a lot of visibility. Here are are some of the projects which were undertaken in the last months.
The Bathroom Project started in Aug 2020. It was delayed due to unavailability of materials, permits etc. The men's and women's bathrooms were fully renovated and a new handicap accessible bathroom was added. We wrapped up a bunch of minor outstanding items during the past weekend.
The following updates were made as part of the bathroom renovation project.
Updated Electrical, Plumbing and Tiling in both bathrooms.
Added new Lighting, recessed ceiling, toilets & separators.
Added new radiators for heating
New State-of-art sink with touch-less soap dispenser, faucet and Hand Dryer
We also added a new ADA compliant bathroom which can also double up as our family bathroom. This is a larger bathroom and has a diaper changing station. The project is complete and is awaiting final inspection.
We received a kitchen range from Saint John XXIII Parish in Nashua. This was newer and larger and is better equipped to serve our community. With the new range, we needed to make some space in the kitchen to accommodate the larger range and install a new hood which was in line with the city codes for the range.
New hood for the range comes with
Better grill
Air intake system (Old hood did not have this. As per the current code, it is required for a commercial range)
Status of the Project:
Hood is fabricated & installed
Air Intake system installed as well.
Connecting the range to gas line is in progress
Next steps:
Connection of Fire Suppression
Inspections
The project is nearing completion and will need an inspection from the city. Thanks to Sunny and Bonus helping with the project.
Pinto Achan's Holy Cross Community office was undergoing a renovation and he had a lot of office furniture to give away. Thanks to this generous donation from Pinto Achan and the Holy Cross Community, we have a spruced up Parish office. Achan's office and the Parish Council Conference Room also got updated furniture.
We had a leak in the basement along the south wall. We hired a contractor to fix the leak. They dug around 10ft along the basement, sealed with hydraulic cement and added a membrane that goes around the corner to waterproof it.
Facilities partnered with CCD to have separator setup, COVID planning and deep cleaning of the facility.
