Teachers meeting August 2020
The CCD academic year 2021-2022 was a challenging one for our CCD program. At the start of the year, we could not have predicted how COVID would impact our community. We went through the many waves Omicron, Delta, BA2 etc. only with faith in our hearts, faith that the Almighty was watching over us.
We could not have completed the year, without the grace of God and the support of students, parents, teachers and our Vicar Fr. Stephen.
After a year of remote learning, we were faced with the choice of continuing remote classes, a hybrid model or returning to in-person classes.
We held our first teachers meeting in August. The teachers shared their experiences with remote learning. One of the biggest downsides was that the students were not able to fully participate in the Holy Qurbana and have faith experiences.
At this point, our church was back to in-person and I wish to thank the parish council and safety advisors who made this possible. This gave us the courage to consider the idea of in-person classes.

The goals for the year were simple:
Ensure we provide a safe environment for our students and teachers.
Provide Faith experiences for our children
Rebuild our CCD program after a year of remote learning.
I was pleasantly surprised to see majority of the children return back to in-person CCD classes. A big Thank you to the parents for putting their trust in the Lord! To ensure we had a safe environment - we doubled the size of classrooms wherever possible. We started with a couple of outdoor events to slowly reintroduce our children to the CCD program.
One of the areas of focus this year was to provide our children with faith experiences. Under the guidance of Fr. Stephen, we conducted many programs such as adoration during CCD class, nativity tableau, christmas carols, stations of the cross. We restarted our lector and altar server programs. We also provided training for our choir students

Towards the end of the year we did a parents survey, received feedback from teachers. The overall response was positive, with regards to returning in person. There were some areas for improvement, the areas we wish to focus on in the coming year are:
Organize more faith based events and faith experiences for our children
Provide more leadership and service opportunities - especially for the High School Students
