Scientists tell us that the universe is about 13 billion years old. If this is so, God waited 13 billion years to express His love for creation by becoming part of it.
Then, a little more than two thousand years ago, God visited planet earth by sending His Son, born of a woman. This Son, the greatest gift ever to man is always with us “to prosper [us] and give [us] hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Despite the pandemic, it is a privilege to witness the miraculous ways that God has blessed the Saint Thomas Syro-Malabar Church in Boston and those we work with. It is truly humbling to look among all of you and be astonished at the work that God is doing through your innovative initiatives and creative efforts to help families pray.
We pray that His love and faithfulness gives us renewed hope in this New Year to reach out to many more families with goodness and kindness. The greatest force on earth is not earthquakes or thunderbolts but babies. When God wants to change the world with His goodness and kindness, He sends babies. You and I born into this world as babies have the potential to be the greatest force for goodness and kindness in the world. Let us celebrate this Christmas being aware that God is with us and that He wants us to be a force for good in the world.
What can you do for someone in your life this Christmas: Your Father? Mother? Brothers? Sisters? Neighbors? Friends?
I have heard of several children who write out tasks they can do for their grandparents and send them to the grandparents in a Christmas card.
Some grandparents have proudly told me the best gift that they got was a loving note from their grandchildren, offering to do a job for them.
Let us celebrate the real presence of God who loves us so much by making a difference in the life of others with our goodness and kindness. A blessed Merry Christmas, to one and all!
Blessings,
Father Pinto
