2020-2021 Meet the CCD Teachers

This year, the CCD teachers are ready to take on the challenge of remote classroom education and are keen to provide an interactive and enriching experience to their students. A hearty welcome to the 6 new teachers, who are joining the CCD teaching community this year!

Grade 1: Vincy MC

I am Vincy. I am a 1st grade C.C.D teacher. This is my 4th year as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of this church for 6 years. I enjoy spending time with little kids. Being with energetic, enthusiastic young people gives me renewed energy and an opportunity to grow in my own faith, learn the teachings of the Church and deepen my relationship with Jesus. I am happy to be a part of this faith formation program that motivates people to work on their friendship with God at an early age.” I consider this opportunity as my responsibility that Jesus wants us to take.I live in Southborough with my husband Jinoy and 2 daughters. I had worked as a Software Engineer for 5 years and I love to spend time with kids and computers.

Grade 1: Jeethu Jordy

I am Jeethu. I am a 1st grade C.C.D teacher. I have been a member of this church over 2 years. This is my 2nd year of experience as a C.C.D teacher. I hope this would be an opportunity to make a positive difference in children’s lives by investing in them. I enjoy travel and designing.

Grade 2: Elsie Vithayathil

I am Elsie Vithayathil, 2^nd grade ccd teacher. I have been a member of this church since the inception of our church. This is the 13^th year as a 2^nd grade teacher in the faith formation of our children. My passion to teach, mainly coming from my spiritual upbringing, my love for our church, wanting to serve God and because our CCD children are so happy in the class to know about Jesus . We usually start the class with simple language like 'falling in Love with Jesus’ before the Big Salvation. They never act bored or count minutes to end the class. I see their curiosity and enthusiasm. They are optimistic little kids eager to learn everything about God. We are teaching the Children whose parents are faith filled which makes it so easy. Thank you to the parent’s .This teaching also enlarges my knowledge in the faith horizon.I am retired from the Commonwealth of Mass as Assistant Director of Health services, DDS, NRS. I am a cheerful grandma with lots of family, community activities on the side also involved in charity and medical mission works.

Grade 2: Annu Thomas

My name is Annu Thomas and I am a 2nd grade CCD teacher. This is my 3rd year as a teacher. I have been a member of this church for 3 years. I enjoy working alongside children to help them grow and understand our culture and religion. I live in Waltham and work in Framingham as a mechanical engineer.

Grade 3: Sr. Lincy

I am Sr. Lincy Sebastian. I am a third grade CCD teacher. This is my 4th year as CCD teacher. I enjoy teaching, specially students for Holy Communion. These students are so willing to learn and so excited about what they are doing. I am so taken up by the interest of the parents in bringing up their children in the faith.I belong to the Congregation of the Venerini Sisters. I live in Rutland. Teaching CCD has always been a priority in following the charism of our Mother Foundress, St. Rosa Venerini, “Educate to set free.” I hope I will be of some help in teaching my students to love God.

Grade 3: Tresa Francis

My name is Tresa and I am teaching the 3rd grade. I have been a member of this church for over 11 years. This is my 4th year teaching CCD in the 3rd grade and taught 1st grade a few years back. I love teaching and I chose 3rd grade because it is an important year for the students as they prepare for their First Confession and Solemn Holy Communion. I believe I can share the Christ experience I received during my faith formation years and learn a lot from the young minds. Teaching also helps me deepen my relationship with Jesus, read and learn about faith as well. My husband Don is also a CCD teacher and we have 3 children, Kevin, Kathy and Kenny.

Grade 4: Teresa Vinitha Francis

I am Teresa Vinitha Francis.I am a 4th grade C.C.D teacher. This is my 5th year as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of this church for almost 1- years. I enjoy teaching CCD as this is a great responsibility of extending the discipleship of Jesus. Helping kids to grow in with their spiritual needs. The role of being a religious education teacher had helped me grow and empower me personally to get closer to God.I could enhance the knowledge of young children & help them build a trusting strong relationship with the Almighty. My 2 kids are Rohan and Rhea ages 10 & 9 and my husband is Anthony Valantra .I work full time as a Nurse for Tufts Healthplan. Along with juggling multiple roles as a mom , driver ,chef, homemaker and bringing my kids to several activities almost everyday of the week, we do love traveling and have been to several places on vacation.

Grade 4: Anu Jacob

I am Anu Jacob. I am a 4th grade CCD teacher. This is my first year as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of this church for over 6 years.
I live in Hopkinton with my husband Rexy Joseph and our 2 kids Rian and Rohan. I am an Electronics Engineer by profession and I work at a semiconductor firm in Littleton.

Grade 5: Sr. Angela

I am Sr. Angela Kavil, who belongs to the order of Religious Venerini Sisters. I am a 5th grade CCD teacher. This is my 4th year of being a CCD teacher at St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Church, Framingham. I really enjoy teaching CCD to our children.We the Venerini Sisters started our mission in the United States in 1909. The pastoral work for various parishes was the Sisters’ primary work. The Motto of our Congregation is “to Educate is to Liberate.” I am glad to continue the work of our Mother Foundress Rosa Venerini, through Catechesis.

Grade 5: Maria Johnson

Hi! I’m Maria and it’s my first year teaching 5th grade CCD. I have been a member of this church for fourteen years. I enjoy teaching because I like to give back to my community. I am excited for this upcoming school year!

Grade 6: Biya Paul

My name is Biya Paul and this is my first-year teaching CCD. I decided to become a catechist because of my desire to share my love of Christ and the Church with our most treasured resource – our children. I am excited to learn a lot through teaching and grow further in my faith. I am a nurse by profession and currently working in healthcare compliance and reimbursement field. I received Bachelor’s degree from Drexel University and two courses away from getting Masters at Lasell University. On the personal side, I live with my husband, Paul and two adorable children Evelyn and Christa in Sherborn MA. I enjoy gardening, cooking, taking care of our chickens and spending quality time with my family and friends.

Grade 6: Nidhi Elezabeth Thomas

I am Nidhi. This is my first year as a CCD teacher. I will be teaching the 6th grade. I have been a member of this church for three years. I am an IT professional and live in Weymouth with husband Abraham and three children - George, Hannah and Thomas.
This is certainly a new endeavor for me and I am looking forward to it.

Grade 7: Depin

I am Depin. I am a 6th grade CCD teacher. This is my 7th year as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of this church for 7 years. I enjoy teaching CCD for the following reasons - Share the blessings we got from Jesus, Share Jesus Teachings, Benefits in life if we follow Jesus, By teaching, become an instrument of Jesus and Learn some new things from students.My personal side, wife name is Smitha & I have 3 children. I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing with the kids, watching movies, listening to music and reading. I work as an Architect at Keurig, Dr Pepper (Beverage) company in Burlington, MA.

Grade 7: Ranjith Thomas

My name is Ranjith Thomas. I am one of the 7th grade CCD teachers. This is my second year back as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of our Syro-Malabar community for almost 17 years. As a CCD teacher, I am excited to be a part of our youngsters faith formation journey and reflect on my own faith convictions along the way.My wife Anju and I have 2 young children; a 4 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. I enjoy spending time with my kids, playing soccer, and spending time outdoors. I work as an Engineer at a chip design company in Hudson, MA.

Grade 8: Louis Mechery

I am Louis Mechery. I am 8th grade CCD teacher. This is my 6th year as CCD teacher. I have been a member of the church for the last 15 years . I have served our church in many roles as Principal kaikkaran , infrastructure committee member and SMCC president/Vice President. I enjoy teaching because I can share my faith, life experience with kids as well as deepen my own faith thru teaching. I'm currently working as a software architect with an insurance company.

Grade 8: Roshan George

My name is Roshan George, Grade 8 CCD teacher. This is my 7th year as CCD Teacher, I am really thankful to God the Almighty for this opportunity and responsibility that I am entrusted with. I have been a member of this Parish for almost 16 years. As a CCD teacher, my primary objective is to share my faith knowledge. Share the perspective of us being called “The People of God” and why we should all be active members of this community. I am married to Brighty and have a daughter Angeline. I like watching movies and listening to music.

Grade 9: Nienu Roy

I, Nienu Roy, am a 9th grade teacher. This is my first year as a CCD teacher. I enjoy teaching not only because you get to share what you know, but you also get to interact and learn from the younger group as well. On a personal note, I live with my husband in Grafton and work as a Senior Product Analyst with BJs Wholesale Club . I love traveling and baking. Excited to be part of this year's CCD program!

Grade 9: Paul Joseph

I am Paul Joseph. I am a 9th grade C.C.D teacher. This is fourth year as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of this church for over 7 years. I enjoy teaching the 9th grade level, because we learn about the Syro-Malabar liturgy. I find that every year, I learn something new about our liturgy. The 9th graders unbounded curiosity, honesty & energy, keeps me looking forward to every CCD class.On the personal side, my wife Biya & I, have 2 children and 7 chickens. I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing with the kids, taking care of the chickens. I am a 3D graphics programmer at a CAD company.

Grade 10: Rekha Joseph

I am Rekha Joseph. I am a 10th grade C.C.D teacher. This is my first year as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of this church for two years.I am an IT professional who loves cooking, following fitness, watching Malayalam movies and solving Sudoko puzzles

Grade 10: Roger Chengat

I am Roger. I am a 10th Grade C.C.D teacher. I have been a member of this parish for 6 years and this is my third year teaching. I am passionate about teaching catechism, because it is an amazing opportunity to bring young people into an encounter with Christ, the Church and its teachings. In turn, I am challenged to learn, understand and live out my faith more deeply.

Grade 11: Christina Sunil

My name is Christina Joseph. This is my second year teaching 11th grade. I taught 3rd grade for nine years. I have been a member of this church since 2009. I believe that teaching our faith is an opportunity to obey Jesus and participate in our Lord’s Great Commission. It is also an opportunity to share our roots as St. Thomas Christians and nurture our children to live as exemplary Christians.On the personal side, I am married to Sunil Joseph and blessed with two lovely daughters. I enjoy cooking for my friends and family. I love to visit to new places and learn about their history and culture. I work in Human Resources for a Life Sciences Consulting firm.

Grade 11: Joseph Kunnel

I am Joseph (Jeff) Kunnel. I am a Grade 11 C.C.D teacher. This is my 9th year as a CCD teacher. I have been a member of this church since 2008. My wife Villbeena and I have three kids, and we live in Wayland, MA. I work at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. I enjoy watching local sports teams and playing seasonal sports when my schedule allows it. I stumbled in to CCD as a substitute teacher for the Kindergarten class, moved on to 7th grade a few years later, and transitioned to the 11th grade for the past few years. Each grade brought its own uniqueness and experiences. I continue to teach CCD because I believe in passing on to my kids as most important what I also received.

Grade 12: Ranit James

I am Don Francis. This is my 8th year as a CCD teacher. I am a 12th grade teacher, although I started as a 6th grade teacher. I have been a member of this parish for 11 years. It’s not by choice that I became a CCD teacher. Instead, I think it was a call after attending a retreat to evangelize the works of Jesus Christ and declare the faith of Catholic Church. Being a teacher, helps me to fulfill this obligation by sharing my knowledge and at the same time learn from the interactions. I thoroughly enjoy working with the future leaders of our church and inspire them to follow Jesus Christ.On the personal side, I am blessed with a loving family. Tresa, my wife, who is also a CCD teacher and my little ones Kevin, Kathy, and Kenny.

I am Johnson Job, Director of Religious Education.

I have been involved with our CCD program since 2007. I have been a member of this church since 2006. I enjoy being involved in the CCD program because I see the effect it has on the children and their families and it keeps me rooted in my faith.

Rosely my wife, and I have 2 children. I work as a Sr. Solutions Architect, taking care of databases at a pharmaceutical company based in Marlborough, MA.

Message from the D.R.E

I hope and pray that all of you are happy and safe.

Welcome to another year of faith formation classes. These are different and difficult times, so I request you all to cooperate with us so that students are formed in their faith. Parents have the primary responsibility of the faith formation of their children and the CCD program team is trying to help you in achieving that goal.

Considering the current situation, and keeping the safety of everyone in mind, the Parish council and CCD leadership have decided to keep our CCD classes online, till December 2020. We will be starting CCD classes during the week of September 13^th, depending on the schedule agreed upon by you and the teachers.

We have intentionally avoided scheduling classes in the morning on Sundays to enable those who would like to attend the Qurbana in-person, to do so.

We will NOT be having online classes for Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Parents will be sent the teaching materials for these grades. Parents may contact us if you need help.

For the success of this online program we require you to help us in the following.

Respond before 1^st of September, to the email from your child teacher, regarding scheduling the classes at an agreeable time.
Complete and sign the consent and registration forms which will be sent to you along with the CCD class Handbook and user guide for attending online classes using Google meet.
Per safe environment guidelines, online classes cannot be conducted without 2 adults being present in the class. We have assigned 2 teachers per grade. For some reason if a teacher cannot make it to a class, we request you to help by being present in the class when requested by your teachers.
