The changing colors and autumn rains have announced there is a new season. The kids are in school (mostly virtual, I believe), with some of you back in office and most of you working from home.
In September, we celebrated the Catechetical Sunday and all of you joined in praying for our Catechists, students and ministers. Our children started their first day of CCD as well. We have also started to see some of you join the Holy Qurbana in person and it has been wonderful. With the start of CCD, we have a second Qurbana in English at 11:30 AM.
We made some progress with the Church restroom renovations and we hope to get those completed soon. We also fixed and renovated the shingles on the roof of our shed and have completed some of our fall cleaning.
October not only brings out the brightest of colors, but also from a liturgical perspective this month is dedicated to the Feast of the Holy Rosary. This edition of SMCB Times highlights the devotion to the Holy Rosary and includes some nice and related articles. Like previous years, we will be observing the 10 Day devotion to the Rosary starting on 22nd through the 31st of October. We also celebrate the Feast of Little Flower and the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
The Saint of the month article in this issue, shares the beautiful story of St. Francis of Assisi and his life. It’s a story of absolute Faith. St. Francis had complete faith in Lord Jesus and trusted that he and his companion Leo would be able to finish the renovation of the Church of San Damiano. Further to that, St. Francis also realized that the Church that Jesus asked him to renovate, wasn’t just made of bricks and mortars, but also the laity to whom he was preaching.
Pinto Achan’s article reflects on similar lines of how humility in leadership makes a person grow in greatness. The best example is Jesus who came to this world to serve, not to be served.
As I had mentioned, we have two holy Qurbanas now on Sundays and I request all of you to please register for the Holy Qurbana prior to attending, as per regulations. We are now able to accommodate our community across both the Qurbanas.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing from all of you. Wishing you all to be safe.
Tony Achan
